Half a million women die in childbirth each year. More than 2 million newborns die each year. In the developing world, a mother dies every 90 seconds and a baby dies every 3 seconds. Most of these deaths could have been prevented if a skilled and trained birth attendant were available.

Less than half of all births in Tanzania are attended by a skilled birth attendant.

It is estimated that there are only two midwives per one thousand births.

A Tanzanian woman's lifetime risk of dying in childbirth is 1 in 23.

A child whose mother dies in childbirth is 10 times more likely to die before the age of 2.

In 2010, the World Health Organization declared that the world needed 350,000 midwives to serve in the world's poorest countries in order to begin to address the maternal/infant mortality crisis, our family decided to answer that call.

We are a family of 5 who moved to Olongapo City, Philippines, in 2012 to train with Mercy In Action, a non-profit organization aimed at providing free, evidence-based midwifery care to mothers and babies in low-resource regions.

We then relocated to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2013 to begin work with our home church, Dar Vineyard, in an outreach to at-risk mothers and babies. Over time, this outreach came to be called MamaLove.

MamaLove grew out of a compassion for the needs of pregnant women in our community. MamaLove seeks to provide basic needs of pregnant mothers, such as health education, nutritional support, baby survival bags, and clean birth kits.

We invest in pregnant mothers lives through building relationships, spending time in the current medical systems, educating families, & giving supportive care throughout the pregnancy. It is our aim to show the love and value that God has for each woman. Our long- term vision is to create and sustain a free birth clinic providing access to safe and loving care for families in need.

There is power in numbers! When we see suffering in the world, it's easy to think "I am only one person, what can I do?" Alone, we can do little, but together, we can do much!

GIVE: Partnership is the way we are able to do the work we are doing here! We are always in need of new partners. Please consider partnering with us financially!
